A Mediterranean restaurant near Reading town centre could sell alcohol for the first time. 

The Bakery House Lebanese grill in London Street has a strong reputation for serving grilled dishes, hot meze, shawarma wraps, desserts and a selection of hot and soft drinks to diners.

Now, its owners have applied to sell alcohol from the restaurant for the first time, and also extend their operating hours for deliveries.

In full, the owners have applied to sell alcohol from 10am to 11pm each day of the week, and sell late-night refreshments such as food and soft drinks until 1am each night.

It is understood the application for late-night refreshments will allow the eatery to conduct food deliveries past the restaurant's opening hours.

The Bakery House is currently open from 12pm to 10pm from Tuesday to Thursday and Sundays, and 12pm to 10.30pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

Deliveries via Deliveroo close at 10.30pm.

To conduct the alcohol sales and operating hours until 1am, the owners have submitted a licensing application to Reading Borough Council.

The Bakery House opened in London Street in the summer of 2015, taking over from The Khukuri Tandoori Nepalese restaurant.
