A huge police presence was spotted outside Reading Train Station following a serious incident.
At around 8.45pm on Saturday, July 20, reports were made to Thames Valley Police that a 60-year-old man had been assaulted near the station.
Both officers from the force along with several emergency workers from a local ambulance service attended the scene.
The man was treated and taken to a nearby hospital where he remains at this time.
His condition has been described as ‘critical’.
A cordon was put in place but has since been lifted.
A 39-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman have since been arrested in connection with this incident and are currently in police custody.
A spokesperson from Thames Valley Police said: “If anyone has any information about this, they are asked to call 101, quoting reference number 43240345971, or to contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
Several accounts on social media have suggested that the incident involved a stabbing, but these have been debunked by the force.
