Images obtained by the Reading Chronicle show the ‘chaotic scenes’ that emerged by the town’s train station.
At around 8.45pm on Saturday, July 20, reports were made to Thames Valley Police that a 60-year-old man had been assaulted near the location.
Both officers from the force along with several emergency workers attended the scene.
They aided a 60-year-old man who has since been taken to hospital for further treatment.
His condition has been described as ‘critical’.
A cordon was put in place but has since been lifted.
A 39-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman have since been arrested in connection with this incident and both are currently in police custody.
An eyewitness told the Chronicle: “It was pure carnage.
“I don’t know what happened but it all went off in Reading on Saturday night.
“The police were everywhere and it was all going off.
"It was chaotic."
A spokesperson from Thames Valley Police said: “If anyone has any information about this, they are asked to call 101, quoting reference number 43240345971, or to contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
