A popular pub who recently opened their brand-new beer garden has said that business has been booming ever since, and they are overwhelmed by the support from locals.
Landlady of the Fox and Hounds in Tilehurst Helen Hay said that the garden has been absolutely heaving since it was opened two months prior.
"We have had private functions after functions after functions!" she said. "It worked absolutely brilliantly for the football as well because were able to put a big screen outside.
"We've also made modifications to the bar to make things more efficient, learning as we go that sort of thing. It's all going really well."
Mrs Hay continued to say that the pub has just introduced a brand-new pizza oven that is now up and running, serving customers with delicious homemade pizzas.
They've also had lots of local musicians in to play at the pub and have another group playing in early August - a Brit tribute band, which they are expecting a huge turnout for.
Mrs Hay also said that the Euros 2024 tournament was great for the Fox and Hounds.
"We couldn't have asked for a better turnout really," she added. "Loads of locals came to join us for it. We also had lots of old locals who hadn't been for a while come to watch.
"It was a really nice number of evenings and we served lots of people. Everyone was in good spirits and made a good effort to be part of a team instead of just watching quietly in the corner. It was a great atmosphere."
Other than the Brit tribute band the pub will be hosting lots of other fun events over the course of the summer, including plans for August bank holiday weekend.
They are also in talks with a local distillery about potentially running a gin and soul Motown evening for locals to enjoy.
Back in May The Fox and Hounds had told their followers over social media that they were excitedly planning the opening of their renovated beer garden.
As previously reported the pub released a statement saying that they have expanded the garden and are looking forward to welcoming back guests to see what they have achieved.
Both Helen and Ian Hay said "We're really excited to bring something new to the village and hope that it will bring the community back together. We're an inclusive pub and hope to see loads of new faces.
