A showdown is looming over a plan for later hours at a Tilehurst pub as neighbours have complained about fights 'bits of kebab' being strewn across the streets.
Craft Union, which operates The Prince has applied to sell alcohol until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, and begin selling alcohol at 10am each day.
The pub in School Road is currently open from 11am to 11pm each day of the week.
But neighbours have raised fears about the longer drinking hours, complaining of 'countless fights' coming from the pub and noise disturbance at night.
One neighbour said: "Not a weekend goes by without some sort of anti-social behaviour as a result of closing time at The Prince.
"In the last six months, there have been almost countless incidences of fighting in the street, loud arguments around midnight, urinating in driveways and more.
"And as a house with an open driveway, we feel especially vulnerable.
"It doesn't take a huge extension of logic to suggest that opening for an additional hour will result in the same activity, pushed further into the night and fuelled by an additional quantity of alcohol.
"I would wager the incidents will increase and perhaps be more dangerous.
"The current landlords have a hard job, and they have stated that they are trying to improve the standards of behaviour of their clientele.
"Sadly, this is not borne out in practice and little seems to have changed as the pub is still attracting the same people.
"We hope that in this case the council sees fit to keep the licence terms unchanged."
The neighbour made this in a representation against the licensing application for The Prince.
Another objector has complained about noise disturbance and uneaten food from patrons being strewn across the streets.
The neighbour said: "I live on St Michaels Road and already on a Friday and Saturday night there is a lot of noise from drunk customers passing my house.
"There is more often than not bits of old kebab all along the road too and I think with extended hours this would only be worse."
Craft Union is a franchise owned by Stonegate, the biggest pub company in the UK.
The pub has had a chequered licensing history, with a review being held in 2016 after an incident which saw two police officers being 'trapped inside' by hostile customers.
The licence was revoked at a meeting that year, leading to a fresh licensing application being submitted following that decision.
The incident occurred when the pub was called The Prince of Wales, with a rebrand occurring after that.
