Violent scenes erupted in Tilehurst last night as a brawl broke out between a group of men brandishing knives.
Emergency services descended onto Eddleston Way at around 7.45pm on Tuesday to reports of a group fighting with bladed weapons.
Police arrested two people who are being held in custody.
Thankfully it is not believed anyone was seriously injured.
Inspector Elliot Male said: “This was a concerning incident, and as a result, we have taken the decision to put a Section 60 order in place for a period of 24 hours.
“This means that our officers will have increased powers to carry out stop and search checks.
“Because of this, people will see more officers in the area – please try not to be concerned but this. They are there to carry out an investigation and they will do their best to answer any questions or concerns you might have, so feel free to approach them.
“If you have any information about the altercation earlier this evening, please get in touch as soon as possible by calling us on 101, quoting reference number INC-20240723-1932.”
