A French restaurant has announced its closure after 38 years of dedicated service within the local community.
L’Ortolan, located on Church Lane in Shinfield, is a high end modern French cuisine featuring elegant, white tablecloth dining rooms.
The restaurant will close its doors on Saturday, August 31after 38 years.
Throughout the years, several influential chefs have headed the restaurant including Nico Ladenis and John Burton Race.
In a missive sent out to local Shinfield residents, the management who have overseen the restaurant for 23 years has said it is with a ‘heavy heart’ that they are closing.
L’Ortolan occupies a beautiful, Grade II listed building in the quaint village of Shinfield, just a short drive from Junction 11 of the M4.
Head chef, Jamie Pearce, is currently at the helm of the established Reading restaurant.
On the website, a notice confirms the closure: “We are closing for good on 31st August, so please book your last meal before then!”
We have contacted L’Ortolan for a comment on the closure.
