Boots is closing hundreds of stores across the country this summer.
And sadly for Berkshire residents, this includes three branches in the county.
The high street brand’s parent company Walgreens Boots Alliance previously said in June 2023 that Boots would be closing down 300 pharmacy outlets in the UK within the year.
The Pharmaceutical Journal reports that all of those closures will be completed by the end of Summer 2024.
The closures are part of a money-saving scheme to save around £618 million, it was reported last year.
Currently, across the UK there are more than 2,100 Boots stores still open, but Walgreens Boots Alliance shared in their financial statement for the last quarter that they would shut 650 Boots stores in the UK for cost-cutting measures.
Among those closed are the Boots store and pharmacy in Tilehurst at Meadway Precinct. In Thatcham, Boots on Bath Road will be closing while in Windsor, the branch on Dedworth Road will also be shutting down.
However there is better news for those living in Reading town centre, Bracknell and Slough as none of their Boots stores will be impacted.
A spokesperson previously said: “Evolving the store estate in this way allows Boots to concentrate its team members where they are needed and focus investment more acutely in individual stores with the ambition of consistently delivering an excellent and reliable service in a fresh and up-to-date environment.”
