A stop and search order has been extended for a further 12 hours after a brawl broke out among a group of men in Tilehurst.
The violent incident erupted when the group was reported fighting with bladed instruments on Eddleston Way at around 6:45pm on Tuesday, July 23.
The Section 60 Order gives officers increased powers to carry out random stop and search checks.
After originally being put in place for 24 hours following the incident, police have made the decision to extend it for a further 12 hours. This will last until 8am on Thursday, July 25.
Inspector Elliot Male, based at Reading police station, said: “Because of this, people will see more officers in the area – please try not to be concerned but this. They are there to carry out an investigation and they will do their best to answer any questions or concerns you might have, so feel free to approach them.
“If you have any information about the altercation earlier this evening, please get in touch as soon as possible by calling us on 101, quoting reference number INC-20240723-1932.
