A heroic 19-year-old woman from Arborfield rescued two dogs from a burning building after a fire broke out in her family home.
At 8:21am on Thursday, 25 July, emergency services rushed to the house on Valon Close after receiving reports of a fire.
The blaze, which supposedly began in the office at the rear of the house, took crews one hour and 47 minutes to extinguish.
Speaking to the Chronicle, Liam Morrissey, described the horrific event which has ejected them from their home.
He said: “My son was upstairs in the house as he had a day off. When my daughter, Katie, came into the house she could smell the smoke and discovered it was coming from the office.
“Our dog, Millie, had managed to lock herself into the office and something had caught on fire in the room. We think it was a tablet which was plugged in at the time.
“Katie opened the door, grabbed Millie and our other dog and called the fire service. It could have been so much worse so we are all so grateful.”
The family, including Liam, Katie, Dan and Debbie are currently safe and grateful for the close escape.
