THE warm weekend weather has thankfully crept into this week and looks set to hang around for a couple more days.

A yellow weather warning for thunder has been issued by the Met Office today warning of thunderstorms being forecast for later in the week.

However, before that we can expect to enjoy a good couple of sunny days with highs of up to 31C across Berks.

Forecasts from the Met Office currently predict temperatures up to 29C for Monday and clear skies, the same for Tuesday although temperatures could go further to a hot 31C. Wednesday is expected to bring with it a more cloudy outlook, however, temperatures as still predicted to stay around 30C, before the thunderstorm warning comes into play on Thursday.

The yellow weather warning for thunderstorms has been issued for midday on Thursday, August 1, through to midnight. The Met Office has warned of heavy showers and thunderstorms likely to cause disruption across the county and beyond.

A Met Office statement said: "Heavy showers and thunderstorms are likely to break out across parts of England and Wales on Thursday afternoon. The exact location of showers is still uncertain and some places will stay dry all day.

"However, where the showers do occur they could be torrential, with the additional hazards of lightning, hail and gusty winds. The heaviest showers could result in 20-30 mm within an hour, with 24 hour accumulations possibly reaching as much as 70-90 mm where multiple showers affect the same location."

The rest of the week is expected to remain in the high 20s, with 27C predicted for Friday, and closer to 22C for the weekend with cloud coverage.
