A bowling company has won permission to stay open past midnight as it is due to occupy part of a former department store in Reading town centre.

Hollywood Bowl will be opening at The Oracle riverside next summer.

In preparation for it coming, the company has won permission to stay open until late at night.

The permission is among the latest plans that have been decided or submitted in Reading.

This is the first roundup with plan references under the council's new planning website, which changed the coding for reference numbers.

Leisure company Hollywood Bowl has won permission to stay open until  00.30am (half past midnight) each day at the former House of Fraser department store.

Hollywood Bowl will be occupying the ground floor with access to The Oracle Riverside.

The unit is currently undergoing works after plans to divide House of Fraser into three were approved last December.

The company also won approval to open until 2.30am on New Year's Eve night, which falls on a Tuesday this year.

Details of electric vehicle (EV) charging for the development at the former Reading Golf Course have been approved. 

The project, dubbed Emmer Green Drive, is made up of 223 homes built on the golf course of Kidmore End Road, and is nearing completion. 

A condition of its approval back in March 2022 was that some of the homes provided must have EV charging, and details must be provided on how the infrastructure will be installed. 

Approximately 22 homes (10 per cent) will have EV parking spaces, with a further 10 per cent of the spaces being provided with cabling and supporting infrastructure required to enable EV charging. 

Details of the infrastructure and where the spaces will be were approved on August 1. 

Replacement extension for Katesgrove home approved (240165/HOU)

The owner of a terraced home in Highgrove Terrace has won approval to replace their extension. 

The replacement extension is likely to have the same function as the existing structure, but will come with a solar panel once built. 

The owner has also won approval for a loft conversion to provide more living space on the uppermost floor.

The owner of a terraced home in Whitley has applied to extend the house to create more space.

The house in Otter Court is in a terrace of three, and currently has a kitchen, living room and a toilet on the ground floor, with three bedrooms upstairs. 

A double-storey side extension would create space for an enlarged living and dining room, with a master bedroom, two double bedrooms, a single bedroom and a family bathroom on the first floor.
