Police received multiple calls from concerned members of the public after a 60-year-old man was punched at a Tesco Extra in Reading last night.
The man was reportedly punched by another man at the supermarket on Portman Road at around 10pm yesterday, Saturday, August 3.
He was taken to hospital for treatment – prompting some residents to speculate on Facebook about the cause of numerous police and ambulance sirens heard in the area late on Saturday evening.
A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said officers attended the scene after being alerted by multiple members of the public.
They liaised with Tesco, who provided CCTV evidence to help the ongoing investigation.
A Tesco representative said they weren’t privy to any details about the incident but described it as “some kind of fracas” that was being handled by the police.
Anyone with information or footage of what happened is urged to contact the force by calling 101, visiting a police station or making a report online, quoting reference number 43240371294.
