A French restaurant, that announced its closure after 38 years, will be transformed into office buildings, according to a planning proposal.
Located on Church Lane in Shinfield, L’Ortolan Restaurant will be closing its doors for the final time on Saturday, August 31.
In a planning proposal to Wokingham Borough Council, an application to change the proposed use of the building to office space was put forward by Mr Nick Phillips.
The decision was made to allow this change in usage on July 23, 2024 after the application was submitted on June 18, 2024.
L’Ortolan Restaurant has been a staple within the community for over three decades and has seen a number of renowned chefs rotate through it's doors.
As part of the farewell, the restaurant has invited the public to join in the celebration of their culinary journey one last time.
The closure marks the end of a memorable chapter in Reading's culinary scene as it is transformed to cater for another purpose.
