A new bar is set to come to the heart of a busy shopping area in a village north of the River Thames.

A company called Spill Bar Limited is gearing up to open in St Martin's Precinct, a busy shopping area in Caversham.

Spill Bar has applied to play recorded music from 11am to 11pm and sell alcohol on and off the premises 12pm to 11pm each day.

Little can be found out about the bar online, with the company being incorporated in June by two businesswomen who live in Caversham.

St Martin's Precinct is currently made up of a Waitrose, Iceland, the Pop Classics music store and Costa Coffee, which Spill Bar will be located opposite.

The bar will occupy the unit left vacant by House of Cards, which has moved to another unit next to Boots within the precinct.

Earlier this year, the precinct was listed for sale by its current owners Federated Hermes for £16.45 million.

A brochure prepared by KLM Real Estate gives a rundown of the current occupants of the precinct and the potential for 40 apartments to be added in plans approved in 2015.

The application for alcohol sales and recorded music by Spill Bar has been submitted to Reading Borough Council's licensing department.

You can comment on the application by emailing licensing@reading.gov.uk. The deadline for representations is Friday, September 13.

It is unclear what name Spill Bar will trade under.
