The BBC has been criticised for not streaming the Prodigy's headline performance at Reading Festival on iPlayer.

A review in the NME described their set as the 'greatest show on earth' but sadly those hoping to tune in from home missed out.

And many took to social media to express their dismay. Twitter user @rosecoloredchar wrote: "I’m sorry but the BBC iPlayer coverage of Reading Festival this year is so poor. Not even showing The Prodigy tonight? The Glasto coverage is always brilliant so this is a huge disappointment."

She said she appreciated Glastonbury was a much larger festival but felt the range of artists shown on the BBC was more limited for Reading. 

Another simply tagged BBC iPlayer writing: "Where is the Prodigy?" 

The BBC said the set by Prodigy would be available on iPlayer. 

The good news is those who got to see the performance in the flesh were very happy.

Twitter user @TVFilmProps said they were the "best act of the day", writing: "The Prodigy were awesome at Reading on Friday Night. A brilliant set, nice little tribute to Keith and stunning lasers."

Meanwhile, the band got positive reviews from across the board of reviewers including the NME, Independent and Rock Show magazine. 

Writer Jordan Basset for the NME wrote: "For a good hour, this is the Greatest Show on Earth.

"The energy, though, dips in the final third, while the brain-frying ‘We Live Forever’ peters out into low-key bleeps and bloops that sap energy from a closing ‘Out of Space’.

"Still, the abiding image is that of the festival’s fairground rides scything away in the background as punters pulsate to audio-visual chaos from ahead and above, Flint’s spirit well and truly imbibed."

Some lucky Reading residents who live close by were able to listen from home.

One woman reportedly was able to enjoy the sounds of Firestarter from her dad's back garden.

The BBC is streaming a number of performances live from Reading and Leeds over the next two days. 

Fred Again’s Saturday headline performance will be available on BBC iPlayer and BBC One on Saturday at 11.40pm.

While Liam Gallagher’s Sunday headline performance will be available from Sunday at 11.35pm.
