Liam Gallagher has set rumours swirling of an Oasis reunion as he prepares to take to the stage at Reading Festival tonight.
The Britpop icon gave his strongest signal yet, exciting fans everywhere, when he took to Twitter/ X this morning to say: “I never did like the word FORMER.”
The former (sorry Liam) Oasis frontman is expected to be performing in front of tens of thousands of fans at 9.50pm tonight.
And there are reports he may confirm news of a reunion while on stage at Richfield Avenue, a huge coop for Reading which holds a special place in the band’s heart.
The band went their separate ways in 2009 due to tensions between Liam, 51, and his older brother and band mate Noel Gallagher, 57.
But 15 years on, old wounds have healed according to those closest to them and Liam has been toying with fans’ hopes on social media.
The Sunday Times reported: "Noel and Liam Gallagher appear to have settled their differences and, if the truce holds, will play massive concerts in London and at Manchester’s Heaton Park in 2025." While further reports have suggested the group will embark on a 20 city tour and will even headline Glastonbury.”
Fans on social media are now speculating Liam will make a special announcement about the reunion plans during his own headline slot at Reading Festival tonight.
His set is due to start around 9.50pm with many fans hoping he will confirm the reports that Oasis will be on the road next year.
When a fan, responding to the news of a possible reunion tour on Twitter / X earlier today, posted that “Heaton Park [is] terrible for concert venues”, Liam replied saying: “See you down the front you big *****.”
There is also speculation that the band may headline next year’s Glastonbury. Their last headline slot in 2004, five years prior to their split, was regarded as a low point in their otherwise impeccable career.
Oasis last performed at Reading Festival in 2000.
