A 45-year-old has been arrested after a man was attacked on a towpath near the Reading Festival site last night.
A man in his forties was attacked by two people at around 6:10pm yesterday, Sunday, August 25, on the towpath between the River Spice restaurant and the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
A weapon was found close to the scene of the incident and a 45-year-old man of no fixed abode was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and possession of a knife or bladed article in a public place.
He is being held in custody.
Police said the victim only sustained minor injuries from the attack and was not taken to hospital.
Investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Sam Toulson, said: “I am appealing for any witnesses to this assault to please come forward.
“It happened on the towpath, where a large number of people will have been in the area for Reading Festival, so I am confident that this incident will have been seen.
