Some outsiders may think that Reading lacks the individual style of other places like Brighton, Bristol, or London. Here at the local paper, we fervently disagree.
The Chronicle went out today Thursday, August 29 to document some of the most fashionable locals to ask them what they are wearing.
This stylish young woman opted today for a long blue denim studded skirt, a pair of heeled leather boots, a lacey hot pink tank top, and an animal-printed bag.
Daisy Unsworth, 20, said that the majority of her outfit is secondhand from the online platform Vinted.
"The bag is from Ebay," she said. "The skirt is vintage Italian but I got them on vinted. The boots are actually real leather from Brazil, and I got them for only £8!"
Ollie Smith, 51, from Sonning Common turned up to town today looking particularly suave with brown-toned clothing and chunky silver jewellery.
"My shirt is actually from Primark! And my jeans are from Marks and Spencer," he said.
"They're actually women's because I like hipster jeans. They're called Sienna I think or something like that. My shoes are off Amazon."
When asked about his iconic silver jewellery, Mr Smith said that the majority of the pieces come from a company called Great Frog.
He also said that the skull pendant he was wearing actually came off the top of a key, but he had recycled it into a necklace.
KC and Aaron Kachikwu both looked really stylish on the streets of Reading today, both thoroughly fitting the bill for vintage streetwear.
"I'm wearing I think it's the 1987 or 88 kit of Real Madrid," said KC. "And then just a pair of jorts and some Yeezy slides."
Aaron said: "I'm wearing a thrifted Tommy Hilfiger knit and some jorts but I can't remember where I got them from. And then some Timberlands as well."
Theresa, who looked a vision in eclectic prints and a fitted blazer, said she believes we should be wearing more of what we already own rather than just buying from fast fashion.
"My outfit is nothing special. I've had the blazer for around 16 years," she said.
"There was an article on the news where this man who is taking part in the Great British Sewing Bee said that if you have your clothes in the cupboard and they look good, you should just put them on. Don't just buy more."
Theresa said that we are buying too many clothes and then throwing them away. When referencing her own outfit she said "This is nothing new. Only this skirt is, and it's African print."
Friends Sheila Mavie and Maya Sitoi looked incredible today and thankfully took the time to talk me through their outfits.
"I'm wearing Adidas shoes, some blue jeans, and a top from Zara," Sheila said. "My cardigan is actually from Primark and I bought it today because it got a bit cold!"
Maya also admitted that she had bought her jumper today from Primark.
"These jorts are from Bershka and the top is Subdued, and I also have this pair of Crocs with some charms on them."
Friends AJ and Bojana both looked great today. "Most of my outfit is actually from Shein," said Bojana. "My shoes are from Office. The jewellery is all from shein as well."
AJ said that she isn't sure where her cargos are from but her bodysuit is from Primark.
"My shoes are from JD Sport, this bracelet is from Italy and this one I made myself."
