While other club nights may try to entice patrons with a promise of house music blaring until the early hours, a pair of Reading friends are bringing something slightly different to the town centre - and it's already proving popular.
"You can have a dance - but then be home in time to have a cup of coco in your PJs," business consultant Louise Wingrove said.
"Or a glass of wine," wedding celebrant Colette Ashby adds.
The pair - both in their fifties - have created a day-time disco for people aged 40 and over , with a start time of 3pm and the music coming to a close at 7pm. The first disco day will held at The Three Guineas by Reading Station on November 9 - at it's already struck a chord with keen revellers.
The event has sold out 110 tickets in less than two weeks.
Louise said: "We were expecting it to be sold out - but not as quickly as it did."
Collette said: "The response has been amazing. We were giving out flyers in town during Pride on Saturday and someone said they had heard about us - it was amazing to hear."
The enthusiastic response has led the pair to move ahead with two further events - one at the Plush Lounge Bar in Basingstoke on November 30 and then back to The Three Guineas for an LGBTQ+-friendly event on December 8.
Explaining why the events have proved popular, Louise said: "Our friends talked about how the only time they got to dance was at weddings. There seemed to be no venues for people of our age to go.
"We have gone dancing in Reading, and everyone has been 30 years younger than us, and the music is...fine, but we don't want to dance to it.
"So it's not about us having had a particularly bad experience in Reading - it's about offering people of a different age a better experience."
There is a market for people who have responsibilities as parents or carers for their own parents - but they also feel "the call of the disco ball", according to Louise.
She said: "The aim is give people somewhere they can come out to a safe environment that doesn't feel like a cattle market - they can just have a good time.
Collette said: "It's taking shape. We want there to be a community were people say, 'see you next time!'"
The pair had the idea six years ago after attending Day Fever in London, a similar day-time disco event in central London.
Now Collette and Louise intend for their 'Boogie Days Daytime Disco' to run in Reading once every three months, with additional events in towns across Berkshire.
Tickets are still available for the daytime-disco in Basingstoke on November 30 and the Reading LGBTQ+ - which is open to people aged over 35 - in Reading on December 8. Tickets start at £15.
