The author Robert Harris is coming to Reading for a special event to discuss his latest historical novel, Precipice.
Robert Harris, who is best known for his World War Two novel Fatherland, will be at St Mary's Church at 7pm on Monday, September 16.
He'll be there to discuss his new book, Precipice, which is set in the summer of 1914, when the world stood "on the brink of catastrophe".
The novel is about a 26-year-old woman called Venetia Stanley who begins a love affair with a man who is twice her age, H. H. Asquith - the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
Asquith writes to Venetia and tells her highly sensitive state secrets, but when Asquith leads the country into World War One, top secret documents are leaked - including the information that the Prime Minister sent to Venetia.
Robert Harris will be St Mary's to talk about the book and how he wove together fact and fiction to write Precipice.
Tickets for the event - which is being organised by Waterstones - cost £8, while tickets that include a copy of Precipice cost £16.
Copies of the book will be available on the night, and Robert Harris will be signing copies after the event.
