Prospective new Reading owner delighted supporters with an imprompteu visit to the popular Purple Turtle bar in the town centre.
The 75-year-old former Wycombe Wanderers chief has spent almost three months trying to secure a deal to rid the Royals of Dai Yongge, a seven-year reign which has brought relegation, points deductions and transfer embargoes.
A deal was expected to be completed last month and Couhig has been a regular at Reading matches since the beginning of the season.
However, a series of snags set the expected completion date back.

Still without confirming a deal, Couhig put out a social media message from the Purple Turtle on Castle Street.
"Trying to get some business done," he said. "The good news is I have found a quiet spot."
Still unknown exactly what the hold up is and when the club can expect to confirm a deal, the Royals don't return to action on the pitch until September 14 against Leyton Orient.
Former Wycombe Wanderers captain Joe Jacobson was with Couhig amid rumours of the Welshman having a role at the club.
