A law firm with offices in Reading has acquired another Reading business.
Blandy & Blandy, a leading Thames Valley law firm, has agreed to take over Reading-based firm Thompson Leatherdale, which has been operating since 1973.
As part of the acquisition, Nigel Hunt, who has been with Thompson Leatherdale since 1979, will become a consultant in Blandy & Blandy’s residential property team.
He and several colleagues will relocate to the firm's Reading office at One Friar Street on September 25.
Claire Dyer, chairperson and partner at Blandy & Blandy, said: "Thompson Leatherdale has enjoyed a strong reputation in the wider Reading area, developed over many years, advising primarily on residential property and private client matters.
"We very much look forward to working with Nigel and our new colleagues to build on that success, following what has been a record year for Blandy & Blandy, supported by five new partners, us welcoming fantastic new colleagues in every department and the opening of our busy office in Wokingham."
Mr Hunt added: "Blandy & Blandy is a very well established firm with a longstanding reputation for excellence.
"As such, I am confident that clients will continue to benefit from first rate legal advice and client care, in addition to the broader range of legal services for individuals and organisations that Blandy & Blandy offers.
"As a team, we look forward to working alongside our new colleagues, who have been extremely helpful and very welcoming."
Blandy & Blandy is recognised as a top tier law firm in the UK’s leading guides to the legal profession, Chambers UK Guide, Chambers HNW Guide and The Legal 500.
The firm is also accredited by The Law Society’s Lexcel scheme, a legal practice quality mark for client care, compliance and practice management, and the Conveyancing Quality Scheme (CQS), a recognised quality standard for firms in residential conveyancing.
Its successful approach is also reflected with a series of rankings and awards.
Blandy & Blandy is consistently rated as one of the best law firms in the area by Review Solicitors. In the firm’s most recent satisfaction survey which involved more than 400 participants providing feedback, 98 per cent of clients said that they would recommend Blandy & Blandy to others.
