The closure of a well-known Australian sports bar, located in the heart of Newbury town centre, has been announced.
Walkabout opened its doors in 2018 following an almost £400,000 investment after the Stonegate Pub Company purchased the Cheap Street venue.
Quintons Commercial estate agent has advertised the 9,000 sq ft unit for sale with possession from early 2025.
The bar is advertised as ‘let currently, vacant possession will be achieved in early 2025’.
Currently a three-story bar and restaurant, with room for hospitality and accommodation, it has now been advertised for alternative uses including residential, gym and religious uses.
In a brochure released by Quintons, it is stated: “Plans have been created to show 2 x commercial units to the ground floor with the upper floors converted to 9 residential apartments (5 x 1 bed, 4 x 2 bed).”
This rare opportunity in Newbury town centre has been put on the market for offers of excess of £1,100,000.
A spokesperson from Stonegate said: “Walkabout Newbury is still open and trading and will continue to welcome guests into next year. We don’t have any further details to share at the moment but we will provide updates when we can.”
