Caversham has been crowned the best place to live in Berkshire by readers of a luxury lifestyle website.

Muddy Stilettos, an award-winning lifestyle site, asked its readers to vote for the best village, town, or city to call home in 2024 using its Top 260 Places to Live guide. The Best Places to Live series ran in association with global property consultancy Knight Frank.

The regional vote took place across 29 counties, with Caversham topping the poll of 10 potential candidates in Berkshire.

More than 27,500 readers participated in the vote, which saw Caversham win top spot due to its proximity to London and being a sought-after Reading suburb with an easy commute, community vibe and indie shops and restaurants.

The 260 locations were researched and picked by the Muddy editorial team, with each location revealing a passion for each town and village's community, access to schools, restaurants, shops, and culture from the voters.

Voting took place between July 30 and August 15, with readers given one vote each.

The Best Place to Live lists provided information on everything from eating out and best schools to the commute and local arts/culture, but the final decision came from the readers’ own personal experience.
