National Highways has announced that parts of the M4 will be closed over the next several weeks due to bridge repairs near Theale.

Works will be carried out in two phases - requiring overnight closures to the west and east side of Junction 12.

Phase one will see the west side of the junction reduced to two lanes running 24/7 from Monday, September 16, to Friday, October 11.

Overnight closures will be in place on the west side of the junction from 8pm to 6am from October 21 to November 23,  affecting Monday to Saturday each week.

Full weekend closures will be in place - including the westbound slip to the M4 - from 9pm Friday, October 11, to 6am Monday, October 14.

A spokesperson from National Highways said: "The full weekend works are weather dependent. If we're unable to complete the works a further weekend will be planned. Please keep an eye on the webpage for updates."

West side junction diversions in place will see traffic directed via the A4 Bath Road, the A340 Basingstoke Road, the A33, and Main Road, among others.

Phase two works are due to start in January 2025.
