A Reading gym is set to open its new venue following severe flooding during Storm Henk at the beginning of 2024.

Unleashed Performance opened nine years with it’s first location in Tilehurst before expanding to Reading Town Centre.

In an unexpected turn of events, flooding at the Duke Street location caused significant loss of business.

After nine months of hard work, owner, James Parker will now be opening a new gym on Wednesday, November 6 at the Apex Plaza.

Ambassador and motivational speaker, David Haye, will be among the special guests in attendance at the opening ceremony.

James expressed his excitement ahead of the opening following a difficult nine months.

He said: ”I am looking forward to opening the new location in six weeks. We have lost a lot of members during the year because two thirds of our gym space was unusable because of the flooding.

“The new venue, at Apex Plaza is beside the train station and we are hoping that this will attract a whole new set of gym goers that work in the town centre or commute.”

Unleashed Performance offers a complete gym experience for members, including group sessions and specialist training with nutritional advice and specific fitness plans for every individual.

He added: “The gym set-up will be similar to the old gym on Duke Street, offering specialist areas for cardio and weight training.

“We are also starting express lunch time sessions for people who want to get in a quick workout at lunch.”

Unleashed Performance also holds community events and team building trips.

James said that he hopes to open other gyms and build even more thriving fitness communities.
