Emergency services rushed to a Reading café last night (17/9) after a fire was reported on the ground floor of the building.

The incident occurred at around 7:41 pm on Tuesday, September 17 on Addington Road.

Images of the scene, show firefighters from the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue enter Monty’s Café where they extinguished the blaze.

Crews from Caversham Road, Wokingham, and Theale fire stations were sent to the scene where they blocked off the road as they dealt with the fire.

A spokesperson from Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue said: “Upon arrival, crews discovered a fire on the ground floor. Firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus used one hose reel to extinguish the fire.

"Firefighters then ventilated smoke from the property. 

“Crews were on the scene for around one hour and seven minutes.”
