Concerns from the public about excessive littering prompted local officers and Morrisons staff to clean an alleyway off Basingstoke road.
Responding to these worries, they banded together to remove a large amount of waste, predominately cans and bottles, to ensure the safety of the environment and foster community pride.
The cleanup operation, supported by RAYS who supplied litter picking kits, is part of a voluntary effort to curb the recurring issue of littering in the area.
Officers expressed hope that residents will utilise nearby bins in the future to prevent a similar dilemma.
One Reading resident praised the initiative, saying: "Well done and good efforts!
"You’re helping wildlife too, many animals end up caught up in litter and in some cases they can die from it, I’ve seen it a lot within wildlife rescues.
"Good job."
