A 30-year-old man has been jailed after pleading guilty to 14 counts of shoplifting.
Richard Hiscock, 30, of no fixed abode appeared at Reading Magistrates Court on Monday, September 16.
He admitted to stealing a total of £8,046 worth of goods between 23 April 2024 and 11 September 2024, from Vision Express, Sunglasses Hut and Boots in Broad Street in Reading.
Hiscock was arrested on 15 September and charged on the same day.
He was sentenced to 40 weeks in prison.
Investigating officer PC Vince Moore said: “I hope this sentencing shows how committed Thames Valley Police is to making our communities a safer place.
“I hope this also sends a clear message to people who choose to shoplift, that they will be dealt with robustly.
“Anyone found carrying out this crime will be put before the courts and risk the prospect of receiving a custodial sentence.”
