A brand-new artisanal cake shop that has just set up shop in Caversham has been going from strength to strength since opening its doors just one week previously.

BKRY, which is situated at 47 Church Street in between House of Cards and Superdrug, has already welcomed plenty of customers into its new stylish unit.

The cake shop currently sports a large pink and purple balloon assortment next to the entrance to welcome guests into the new place.

Upon entering BKRY you are immediately greeted with their assortment of sweet treats on a display table.

Customers can currently choose from plenty of different options. These include fresh cookies, brownies, cupcakes, and macaroons.

You can also buy a number of celebration gifts in the bakery, including your own custom cakes, birthday cards, and other fun small gifts.

The owner of BKRY Jo Deacon spoke directly to The Chronicle and said "We've had a really warm welcome from all the local people and community and everyone is really excited about the academy that is due to open around November time!

"We have a really good group of staff members who have started as well. We are just trying to keep up with demand basically!"

The artisanal cake store opened its doors for the very first time last weekend Saturday, September 14, and saw dozens of customers come in to try their sweet treats.

"We sold out in three hours on both days which was just amazing," Mrs Deacon said. "We had really good feedback, everyone enjoyed the cakes which was lovely."

Mrs Deacon also wishes to thank her business party Candi Hall who has made this all possible along with friends and family.

The space upstairs will be used as a baking academy, but will also be open for other events. It will host special occasions, classes, and groups that attendees can join them for.

They plan to invite different professionals to come and teach various techniques. These will include not just the art of baking cakes, but candle-making and other crafts.

"We don't want it just to be a bakery," Mrs Deacon said. "It's going to be like a community space for people to use it how they want.

"There will be cake decorating parties up there as well."

The upstairs section of BKRY will also house their own prep kitchen where Mrs Deacon will continue with her popular celebration cake business.

BKRY also has a website where customers can order custom cakes. These include the particularly popular vintage-style heart-shaped birthday cake.
