Award-winning comedian and author Shabaz Ali has announced his debut live tour will stop off in Reading.

Ali will perform his new show, 'I Am Rich, You Are Poor,' in both Reading and Maidenhead.

The stand-up will take to the stage with his quick-witted observations of the lengths taken to present a 'perfect' life online.

His debut book, with the same title, was published in March, with other projects also in the works.

Ali's observations have earned him a following of millions online who wait to hear his take on the latest online craze, from designer ice cubes, to Stanley cups.

Ali's comedy looks at "the growing desire for authenticity in public life, proving that performers can be genuine while also being hilarious".

When asked about the tour, Ali said: "I’m so excited to be going on tour. I’ve loved making people laugh online and building an incredible community.

"My success has always been down to the people who watch and engage with the comedy whether it’s online or as part of the book and now I can’t wait for us all to come together IRL, make the show and make it a night to remember.

"Plenty of laughs and a whole load of povvo pride."

In the past Ali has been the host of the BBC's Dr. Who podcast, and took over the BBC Radio 1 for the Review of the Year 2023, and has also been interviewed by CBS News America and ABC Australia.

He has also been named comedy creator of the Year at the B Creator Awards, and channel of the year at the Asian Media Awards 2023.

Ali will perform at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts in Maidenhead on Saturday, March 15, and Reading’s South Street Arts Centre on Friday, April 4.
