Earley and Woodley’s MP has met with the President of Reading University’s students’ union as the new academic year begins.
Yuan Yang met with James Haxell, who will lead the Student’s Union for the upcoming 2024 to 2025 school year.
The Whiteknights campus is within Ms Yang’s constituency, which was newly created this year.
The Labour MP said that Mr Haxell had ‘started his term at the same time as me’.
Their discussions included night safety and problems students in Reading face with the rental market.
As President, Mr Haxell is promising to improve student safety, provide cost of living support and improve the student experience of those attending the university.
He has just finished his fourth year studying accounting and finance at Reading, with a study abroad year in Colorado.
The MP added that she looked forward to welcoming Reading University Students to Parliament later this year.
