A photographer born and raised in Reading has been shortlisted for the British Photography Awards.

Elle Martin has been recognised for her work at the Ctrl Creative studio, which has one of its bases in High Wycombe at DesBox.

As a fashion photographer, Ms Martin aims to push boundaries and inspire the wider fashion community through her work.

She aims to tell stories which 'reflect the uniqueness of everyday moments,' as well as include representation within her work, to celebrate 'both the extraordinary and the overlooked.'

Ms Martin, when describing her shoot for the awards, said: "This shoot was with another phenomenal woman, Justice, my sister and my best friend.

"We put this shoot together for Savage Fenty as we were both fans of the brand but disappointed with their representation of plus size women." The image is unedited and the model is not wearing make up.

Being shortlisted for the award has given Ms Martin the opportunity to present her work on a national platform.

The British Photography Awards run a series of online and live events throughout the year including a charity-oriented photography competition, live and virtual galleries, judging, global public voting, a black-tie awards gala in November and an upcoming British Photography Roadshow in 2024-25.

The awards are open to every photographer based in the UK, no matter their nationality, as well as British photographers based all over the world.
