A well-loved Reading pub is set to close this month after years of dedicated service.
The Traveller's Rest, located on Henley Rd in Caversham, has been under the management of Claire Roberts for the last five years.
This pub and restaurant is a ‘Sizzling pub’ establishment – owned by Mitchells and Butlers and leased from Brakspear.
Despite the pub’s closure under Claire’s management on Friday, October 11, Brakspear has released an advertisement to find a new tenant for the popular establishment.
The prominent landmark pub in the heart of the village has served the local community throughout the years.
The company has advertised that the minimum capital required to let the popular pub is £30,000, with a five year tenancy agreement at £60,000 per annum.
The Traveller's Rest covers 120 people in the bar and restaurant area, with an additional function room and separate function suite with its own bar and kitchen.
Private accommodation includes three large bedrooms and a two bedroom assistants flat.
Brakspear said: “The current value offer presents a good opportunity to move the pub into a more mainstream offer catering to the surrounding Caversham community.”
“Due to its size and trading, the pub will require an experienced pub operator with extensive knowledge of both wet and food operations with additional function experience.
The local crematorium provides regular function trade to the pub and restaurant.
