Travellers have been urged to allow extra time for their journeys this weekend after National Rail announced a two-day closure of all lines between Bracknell and Wokingham.

This means that South Western Railway trains from London Waterloo to Reading will instead terminate at Bracknell for the duration of the weekend, where replacement buses will be available for the rest of the journey.

Meanwhile, all Reading to Waterloo services will depart from Bracknell all day today, Saturday, October 5, and tomorrow, Sunday, October 6.

The disruption is due to engineering work by South Western Railway on the lines between Bracknell and Wokingham as part of a wider maintenance and repairs project.

It will also impact the times of normal services on Sunday, with trains from Waterloo running as normal to Ascot before operating on a delayed timetable for all other stations and terminating at Bracknell.

Sunday services from Reading to Waterloo will leave from Bracknell at 24 and 54 minutes past the hour and arrive earlier than usual at all stations up to Ascot before running as normal to Waterloo.

A spokesperson for National Rail advised passengers to check how they will be affected through the online journey planner and allow extra time for their travels, with replacement services expected to be busier than usual.
