A two-year-old racehorse has reportedly been put down after being hit by a car on a road in Lambourn.
The horse was hit by a grey Volkswagen Polo near the village's racing centre on Monday, September 30, according to The Mirror.
Tom Ward, a trainer at the centre, told the newspaper that while its rider had only suffered minor injuries, the animal had sadly died as a result of the crash.
He said: "It was pretty horrific for everyone. It's the last thing you want to happen.
"Lambourn is a very small community and we've got lots of yards, so (it's) a horsey village and we'd expect people to be more aware of their surroundings, but in this incident, the person wasn't.

"The rider is ok but was pretty shaken up and bruised. Nothing seems broken (but) it was pretty messy."
Thames Valley Police told The Mirror that the horse had "sustained injuries which led to it being put down by a local vet" after the crash, which happened at 8:15am on Monday.
They also asked any witnesses to call 101, quoting reference 43240469386.
