A person has died on the tracks between Reading station and London Paddington, police have confirmed. 

Officers from British Transport Police (BTP) were called to a casualty on the train line near Reading at 9.25am this morning. 

A representative for BTP said: “Officers were called to the line in Reading at around 9.25am today (7 October) following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

The incident led to major disruption on train services between Reading and London. 

All lines have now reopened between these stations, but trains may still be cancelled, severely delayed by up to 90 minutes, or revised.

Trains are currently still suspended between Maidenhead and Marlow.
