A new singing group aimed at improving wellbeing has launched in Reading.
Singing Mamas, a national charity, including mothers, nurses doctors, midwives, musicians, teachers and community workers, with the aim to improve mental health through singing.
The group, aimed primarily at mothers, held its first meeting at Yoga Reading, in Caversham, and will continue to meet every Thursday, from 1.30pm to 2.30pm.
A free taster session is available for those who wish to try it out.
The group has been founded in response to the high rates of suicide among women during and after pregnancy.
The charity highlights the benefits of singing, which has been clinically proven to alleviate symptoms of postnatal depression more rapidly than traditional treatments.
The Berkshire music trust is an organisation 'seek to empower our community to achieve their potential, explore their own creative pathways and enjoy music in all its forms.'
