An outstanding phenomenon lit up the sky this week for a second time this year in what would have once been a once in a life time sighting.

The Northern Lights, also known as aurora borealis, have been spotted across the parts of Reading, Bracknell and Slough.

A weather expert from the Met Office said: "Look north in the coming nights and you may spot the Northern Lights.

"A coronal mass ejection from the sun is earth bound and whilst there's some uncertainty on its arrival time, sightings of the aurora are likely in northern areas with a slight chance in the south too."

The strongest sightings were seen in different areas of Reading and Wokingham, with a reader photographing a breathtaking sighting at Dinton Pastures as it reflected across the lake.

Parts of Reading where people experienced the most stunning sightings included Tilehurst and Theale.

Many people took to social media in awe after experiencing the sight. This is following an initial sighting of Aurora Borealis earlier this year.

Although it was expected that the Northern Lights would also be seen on Friday night.

The sighting however did not appear as phenomenal as Thursday evenings' Aurora sightings. A red sky was pictured behind the clouds near The Cut in Bracknell.
