Rumors that a new Italian street food restaurant is set to replace a well-loved cheese and beer deli have been circulating after signs were spotted on the shop front.

The former Grumpy Goat deli on Union Street closed its doors on Tuesday, October 31 after the owners were given one week to vacate the property.

Known for its specialty cheeses, the venue was part of the Reading independent business scene and a Union Street occupant for the last 10 years.

After a year of the Union Street unit sitting empty, signs claiming that a restaurant selling ‘Authentic Italian Street Cuisine’ would be ‘coming soon’ have been placed on the windows.

The signs were spotted on Thursday, October 10 after a year of the shop unit being shuttered.

The shop was put up for sale on Tuesday, November 14 and confirmed by the Hicks Baker Property Consultancy company.
