Oxygen Reading
Oxygen Reading opened its doors on the 4th of October in the former site of RedKangaroo, following an extensive refurbishment.
Roy and Hayley Atkinson and their two sons Brody (age 12) and Blake (age 8) have been loyal guests of RedKangaroo since the park opened in 2017. They were invited Oxygen Reading by the Oxygen Reading team to be the first family to bounce on the new trampolines and officially open the new venue.
After visiting the new park for the first time, the family has shared their first impressions of Oxygen Reading…
“We were amazed at Oxygen Reading before we even stepped foot into the main park. We went through the Excite Tunnel first, which does live up to its name. We were illuminated by rings of light while a member of the team explained how to play safely and got the boys amped up to start jumping.
“When the door opened and we saw the new park for the first time, we could not believe it was the same space as RedKangaroo. While the venue had already been big, it now feels absolutely huge!
“Our two boys headed straight for the thirty-two trampolines and were soon jumping and flipping to their hearts’ content.
“After that, they were eager to try the brand new Gauntlet Run, which is a multi-level obstacle course. They raced several times, so it’s safe to say it was a fast favourite. The course is full of different obstacles to tackle, such as crossing a balance beam and clambering over mega balloons.
“They couldn’t wait to get on the interactive sports pitch. There’s a basketball hoop and what looks like a net, but is actually a set of light-up targets, as well as digital scoring screens, it’s super modern and they were so impressed.
“They played Basket Battle and Hotshot, which are based on basketball and football. The boys loved the competitive element and challenging each other.
“Next up was the trapeze and giant airbag. It’s definitely not just for kids, we both had a go as well!
“We worked up such an appetite, we were thrilled that the cafe’s food had really levelled up too, the pizza was a firm favourite. Most importantly, Oxygen Reading now offers refillable coffee, which will go down as a treat for any parent.
“The seating area has expanded, meaning there’s no need to dash to reserve a table. What’s more, there’s a clear view of the whole park from each seat, so we can enjoy a coffee, while watching the kids play.
“While our two boys are too old for the Toddler Zone, we had a quick look and it was amazing. It’s like a mini version of the main park, with trampettes and a mini obstacle course.
Overall, Oxygen Reading has our whole family’s stamp of approval. Thanks to the refurbishment, there’s a range of activities for kids of all ages, from toddlers all the way up to teens. We’ll definitely be coming back for years to come!”
