Construction of a new exercise studio at Hungerford Leisure Centre has been approved.
West Berkshire Council is investing in the design and construction of a modular building to create space for the new multi-functional activity and fitness studio.
The new studio will allow the leisure centre, which is run by Everyone Active in partnership with West Berkshire Council, to expand its fitness offering and increase the number of group exercise classes.
It will boast a top-of-the-range sound system and LED lighting.
Richard May, contract manager at Everyone Active, said: "We’re really excited for the installation of a brand-new group exercise studio at Hungerford Leisure Centre.
"Not only will it provide residents with a fresh and modern space for enjoying exercise, but it will allow for an increased number of classes and activities to cater for all corners of the community."
Building works are set to start in early November and are expected to be complete by mid-December.
Councillor Nigel Foot, West Berkshire’s executive member for culture, leisure, sport, and countryside, said: "We are delighted to announce that work will be starting shortly on the new multi-functional fitness studio at Hungerford Leisure Centre.
"The new studio will significantly enhance our offering at the leisure centre.
"The fitness studio will provide a versatile space for a variety of activities which will support the health and wellbeing of local residents, and I am delighted."
The centre has planned for minimal disruption throughout the construction process but will keep customers updated via their website.
