A cafe in Caversham that recently opened its doors has been going from strength to strength despite only welcoming customers a month prior.

The interior of Caffe House, which is situated on Prospect Street, is bright and classy with an array of white marbled tables with plush suede chairs for customers to sit and enjoy their coffees, teas, and sweet treats.

The main area where those visiting the coffee shop can order sports large blackboards displaying today's specials and their selection of sandwiches.

When this reporter had the pleasure of visiting the establishment, some options for savouries were cheese and tomato, bacon and cheese, and ham and cheese.

There is also a sizable ice cream counter with a full selection of flavours.

The manager of Caffe House Italian Coffee Ronaldo Maxhari said that he and the team have been overwhelmed by support from the locals.

"We opened on the Tuesday, September 2," he said. "It has been going really well. We did a half-price deal on everything for the first week.

"Then we carried on with the coffees for another two weeks. We may continue this for another three or four weeks."

Mr Maxhari said that he used to work in cafes when he was a lot younger but is now fully prepared to take on such a venture.

He went on to say that he is very interested in what makes a coffee shop likable and atmospheric and hopes to make Caffe House a lovely spot for people to meet up for a hot drink and snack.

"We are an independent which I think is so nice for Reading because there are so many chains," he said.

"We do provide special coffee - Italian coffee which makes us different from other places I think. It comes straight from Italy. It is really good quality. The roast is better and it isn't bitter at all."

Mr Maxhari said that although the coffee at Caffe House is a little more expensive, he hopes customers will appreciate the high quality of the coffee.

"Our challenge is to show people that our coffee is really premium. It is better than the stuff you get from any old shop, people should definitely come and try for themselves," he continued.

Everything else at the new coffee shop is pretty standard to other types of places. They are currently serving a lovely selection of cakes and paninis.

They also serve a selection of ice creams and hope to eventually open up later on to serve desert food. The plan at the moment is for waffles and crepes.
