A busy kitchen and café in Woodley is set to keep its outdoor seating area. 

The Bosco Lounge has been a fixture in Woodley town centre since it opened more than 10 years ago in May 2013.

There are 14 two-seat tables, two four-seat tables and a three-seat table outside the cafe and kitchen at the pedestrianised area of Crockhamwell Road.

But in order for the business to be able to take up public space, it requires a street pavement licence from Wokingham Borough Council, which must be renewed regularly.

The application was noted by Woodley Town Council's planning & community committee when it met on Tuesday, October 15, with no objections being raised.

According to a government webpage, councils can charge up to £500 for new licences and £350 for renewal applications.

The Lounge brand has a strong presence in Berkshire and in towns across the country. 

Each has its own Spanish-sounding name. The company's other locations near Woodley include the Alto Lounge in Caversham, which opened in 2009, the Sedero Lounge in Wokingham, which opened in 2017, and the Pineto Lounge in Bracknell which opened in March this year. 

The company also runs the Cosy Club brand, which aims to open at the former Lakeland unit at The Oracle Shopping Centre in Reading in the near future.
