Some of the pubs and bars across Berkshire have been awarded and lauded among the best in the UK.
From delicious ale to mouth-wateringly good food, there is something exceptionally special about every single one of them.
What makes them different though is the engagement they have with their customers and the community as a whole.
As the award season comes to a close, we have rounded up the pubs and restaurants awarded for their efforts this year.
The Bell Inn – Aldworth
Award: CAMRA’s Pub of the Year 2024
This 'wonderful' village pub has a rich history, having previously won the National Pub of the Year title in 1990 and 2019.
The pub has been run by the Hunt/Macaulay family since the 18th century.
The pub’s interior is of 'outstanding national historic importance' - the only pub in Berkshire to do so.
The Hinds Head
Award: Great British Pub of the Year (for food) 2024
RENOWNED chef Heston Blumenthal’s Michelin-starred Hinds Head in Bray has been awarded the Great British Pub of the Year for food.
Home of the original triple-cooked chip and birthplace of the runny Scotch egg, the Berkshire venue has become a destination pub for diners across the world.
Under the watchful eye of head chef Edoardo Brambilla, the pub’s menu has evolved to include superlative versions of Great British Classics such as pea and ham soup, devils on horseback or fish and triple-cooked chips, as well as some culinary surprises, notably the beguilingly wobbly quaking pudding and the luxuriously indulgent chocolate wine slush with millionaire shortbread.
The Victoria
Award: Acknowledged in CAMRA’s best beer guide
An independent pub in Tilehurst has been recognised for having some of the best beer in the country by CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale).
Dave and Jason took over the Victoria in August 2016 and have heavily invested their time and money to make it the success that is today.
During the pandemic the pair gave everything they had to renovate and upgrade the pub, utilising the time in which they were closed to fully redecorate and upgrade the furniture.
After being acknowledged in CAMRAs beer guide, the pair are ecstatic.
Newtown Pippin
Award: CAMRA Pub of the Year 2024
Located on The Ralphs Ride in Bracknell Forest, The Newtown Pippin, is a family-run pub in the heart of Harmans Water offering a warm atmosphere and a host of community events.
Opened by Simon and Vicki Powell in 2021 as a Stonegate Group Pub, it has gone from strength to strength with support from the local community.
On Wednesday, March 3, the Berkshire South-East Branch of CAMRA announced that the establishment had come out on top for the second consecutive year following its relaunch.
