An exciting new business has just set up shop in the centre of town after appearing on a major TV show.

Pop Specs, as seen on Dragon's Den, is an innovative opticians service selling funky colourful glasses that are made for customers onsite.

Speaking directly to two of the owners and directors of Pop Specs Vinni Virdee and James Hanks, they said that they are thrilled to welcome customers to their new Reading stall in The Oracle.

"We just want people to have fun with their eyewear again," Ms Virdee said. "Glasses have become so boring. We just want people to enjoy wearing them again, hence the funky, colourful, and fashionable frames we have on offer.

"But, we also want to make it accessible to everyone as well, hence the price point is not rocket high."

Mr Hanks went on to say that the average sale at pop specs is £100, with some people buying multiple pairs.

This is allegedly half of what sales are like at normal opticians, where some customers end up spending hundreds of pounds on glasses.

"We're very affordable, and the fact that we are faster than anyone else is our key selling point," he continued.  "We can make your prescription in 20 minutes."

Ms Virdee went on to say that she believes that vision should not be a compromise and that people should feel that they can have more than one pair of glasses to match to outfits.

Instead of opting for a versatile frame that will match lots of different looks, Ms Virdee said Pop Specs wants to empower people to chop and change their eyewear depending on how they feel or what they are wearing.

"We change our clothes every day and accessorize, so why should we not do the same with our glasses?" she said.

"The first thing that people notice when they look at a person is eye contact and facial expressions. We want to make eyewear fun and memorable."

Ms Virdee went on to say that it typically takes longer for a customer to choose their frames than it does for them to actually make the glasses.

Shoppers can then choose a pair and bring along their prescription for them to be made onsite.

"We often have people that come in that like two pairs who will buy one set of glasses and then come back later that week for the second pair. It has just taken off," she concluded.
