A popular pub in the heart of Reading has been going from strength to strength since welcoming customers this summer.

The Rising Sun on Castle Street, despite boasting a large beer garden that is perfect for warmer months, has proven itself as the perfect bolt-hole for the colder season.

Speaking directly to this reporter, loyal customer Jack Williams, 24, from Sonning Common, who dined at the establishment described his whole experience as 'incredible.'

"Where do I start," Mr Williams said. "The service was incredible, immediately friendly and welcoming.

"Lana was especially kind to us and very patient when she was taking us through the menu."

He also said that he was thankful to the bar staff who took pleasure in showing him their extensive list of premium wines.

Mr Williams went on to describe the restaurant as not only beautiful but incredibly cosy, perfect for a romantic meal or intimate drinks with friends.

"The ambiance was wonderful. Massive kudos to whoever was on the music that night, great job," he laughed.

The selection of food on the menu at The Rising Sun compliments the colder season as we wave goodbye to the summer months.

The delectable array of finer dishes included eight-hour slow-cooked shoulder of Highland venison, Pan-fried chicken supreme, and Loomswood Farm duck breast.

However, if your after a bit of top quality pub grub, the eatery also offers steaks, burgers, and beef pies.

"It was hard to pick what food to go for as there was such a great mix of choices," Mr Williams continued.

"We started off with a warm baguette straight out of the oven with a trifecta of dips, lovely.

"The main attraction was the hake though of course. Buttery and delicious. I would thoroughly recommend it."

Despite chillier weather coming in, the watering hole has been hard at work utilising all its space, with deputy manager David Pearce explaining that the pub now offers warm blankets and heaters for those still wanting to sit outside.

"So far with blankets and the heating people are still managing to use our outdoor area," he said.

"Some days we are just growing more and more. It's different during the week but weekends are busier and busier which is just lovely to see. "

Mr Pearce went on to say that the pub has a few events coming up in the near future, and they are excited to show customers what they have been working on.
