Reading FC legend Adam Le Fondre has taken his next career step while still playing football.

Le Fondre, who currently plays for FC United of Manchester, has been appointed as a video scout by City Football Group.

This group includes clubs such as Manchester City, Girona, and New York City.

The former Hibernian striker, who was the club's top goalscorer for three consecutive seasons, including the 2012-2013 Premier League season, will now be involved in analysing and scouting upcoming talent.

As he embarks on his new role, Le Fondre said: "My ambition is to eventually reach a head of recruitment role, but I know it’s essential to earn that position.

"I’m fully prepared to climb the ladder and learn as I go, ensuring that by the time I retire, I’ll be ready for the next chapter."

Despite his new appointment, Le Fondre will still be actively playing with FC United of Manchester.

The Reading FC hero will be returning to Reading for a special event at the Purple Turtle in Gun Street on November 17.

Here, he will take part in a Q&A session, reflecting on his time as a player at Reading and answering questions from the audience.

Tickets for the event, which will start at 1pm, are still available at the price of £12.50.

This event comes a week after a similar Q&A session at the same venue with former Reading left-back Nicky Shorey.

A third Q&A event is also scheduled at the Purple Turtle, featuring former Reading midfielder Jem Karacan, on November 24.

As Le Fondre celebrates his 38th birthday on December 2, he continues to contribute to the sport both on the field and behind the scenes.

His new role marks the beginning of a new chapter in his football career, as he works towards his long-term ambition of becoming head of recruitment.
