Reading Rep Theatre has announced the full cast for its new production of The Snow Queen for this festive season.
This production follows from the theatre's sell-out performances last year.
Directed by Reading Rep Theatre’s founding artistic director Paul Stacey, the show is set to run from November 29 to December 31.
The cast features all Reading talent Mark Desebrock as Kai, Niall Kiely as Bae and others, Orla O’Sullivan as Gerda and others, and Charlotte Warner as Ragna and others.
Desebrock, O’Sullivan, and Warner return from last winter's productions of Potted Panto and It’s A Wonderful Life.
This year’s festive offering is based on the original tales by Hans Christian Andersen, and features original music and characters.
The story is set in the picturesque mid-winters of Odense, Denmark, where the frosty air bites and the Snow Queen reigns supreme in distant snowy wastelands.
When Kai mysteriously disappears, Gerda must brave icy landscapes to find her best friend, embarking on an exhilarating adventure full of bandits, reindeer friends, and confrontations with her greatest fears.
The creative team for The Snow Queen includes Chris Cuming as associate director, Matthew Forbes as puppetry designer and director, and Libby Todd as set and costume designer.
Paul Stacey, the founding artistic director of Reading Re Theatre, said: "A timeless classic that promises to enchant audiences of all ages and continues the cherised tradition of starting your Christmas at Reading Rep.
"We believe in the power of theatre to bring people together, and what better time to do so than during the festive season.
"The Snow Queen is a beloved intergenerational story that captures the immagination and reminds us of the importance of love, friendship, and the magic of holidays."
The playhouse has also confirmed relaxed and BSL interpreted performances on December 14 and December 18, respectively.
Nick Thompson, Reading Rep Theatre’s executive director, said: "Our Christmas shows over the last three years have fast become a festive, family tradition.
"Grab your tickets while you can, we expect another sold-out season!"
The production company seeks to create a festive atmosphere, believing theatre has a unique ability to bring people together.
Tickets are priced between £5-£26.
Visitors can find more information and book tickets online at the theatre's website.
